U.S. Marines with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 465 offload and rebuild a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter on MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Mar. 12, 2021. The CH-53E was transferred from Hawaii to Okinawa in support of Force Design 2030. The CH-53E was disassembled by HMH-463 in Hawaii to accommodate transport in a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft with the Alaska Air National Guard. After arriving at MCAS Futenma, HMH-465 rebuilt the aircraft and is now flying the CH-53E in support of III Marine Expeditionary Force operations and exercises. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Lance Cpl. U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 172 conduct expeditionary advanced base operations at various islands off the coast of, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 19, 2021 during exercise Hagåtña Fury 21. MWSS-172 performed forward arming and refueling points with aircraft from 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and transported equipment on Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465 CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters on Ukibaru island and Ie Shima.
