The Environmental Conservation Branch and volunteers plant sea oats aboard Onslow Beach, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 4, 2018. Volunteers plant sea oats biannually to conserve the environment. They live closest to the ocean and beach, where high levels of salt spray, continuous winds, large amounts of wind-blown sand, and other environmental factors continuously impact these “Pioneer” species.
