U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, participate in service-level training events to include Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 1-20, and Marine Air Ground Task Force Warfighting Exercise (MWX) 1-20, at Marine Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., from Sept. to Nov. 2019. The purpose of ITX is to create a challenging, realistic training environment that produces combat-ready forces capable of operating as an integrated Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) and to prepare units to participate in MWX. MWX is a force on force exercise designed to challenge the MAGTF, other U.S. forces, and allied nations' militaries against a peer adversary in a free play environment in order to assist forces with meeting current and future real world operational demands (U.S. Marine Corps video by Lance Cpl. Mathew Maddux, a member of Wounded Warrior Battalion - East and participant in the 2019 DoD Warrior Games, talks about how the games enhance rehabilitation and benefit wounded, ill or injured Marines and veterans. Maddux is the team Ambassador for the 2020 Warrior Games in San Antonio, Texas. The DoD Warrior Games were established in 2010 as a way to enhance the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans and to expose them to adaptive sports. Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni residents traveled to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park as part of a Cultural Adaptation Program event in Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan, April, 26, 2019. The Cultural Adaptation Program hosted the event to allow residents an opportunity to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and meet Kikuko Shinjo, a WWII atomic bomb survivor.
