2019 Year in Review

From hosting the Super Guppy to a visit from the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, had an eventful year. It saw the turnover of its command leaders. Its community members worked hard and played hard in a multitude of training exercises and family events. It highlighted its hardworking Marines, Sailors and civilians and showed off some of what takes place behind the scenes of accomplishing the mission. Maj. Eryn RedmonSteed is a 3rd-degree black belt in taekwondo and has served more than twenty years in the United States Marine Corps. She was a part of the All-Marine Sports taekwondo team and has won two national titles, 1997 and 2018. She is currently stationed at Manpower & Reserve Affairs aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Okinawa based Marines complete culminating event to earn higher level MCMAP belts

U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base Smedley D. Butler complete their Marine Corps Martial Arts Program culminating event Dec. 14, 2018 on Torii Station, Okinawa, Japan. The Marines completed the culminating event as part of their curriculum in attaining a higher level Marine Corps Martial Arts belt. MCMAP emphasizes the complete development of a professional warrior, and is a key component of the ethical warrior concept. MCMAP is designed to improve the warfighting capabilities of individual Marines and units, enhance Marines' self-confidence and esprit de corps, and foster the warrior ethos of the Corps.
