For most people, using explosives is far from a normal day in the office … unless you happen to be an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron EOD technicians work by supporting the installation and surrounding communities by locating, accessing, identifying, rendering safe, neutralizing and disposing of hazards, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRNE) and high-yield explosive, unexploded explosive ordnance, improvised explosive device, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) that present a threat to operations, installations, personnel or material. Marines with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion made sure to plug their ears as they fired the loudest shoulder fired weapon in the Marine Corps weapons arsenal, the Shoulder launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon, during a range training event at Camp Lejeuene, N.C., Nov. 11, 2016.
