For National Doctor’s Day, we are going to celebrate the Navy “Docs”, or medical professionals, that have protected and treated our Marines over the years. The Medal of Honor is the highest award given to U.S. military personnel. Service members with 3rd Marine Logistics Group established their Role II capabilities display Nov. 26-30, 2018 at Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The preventive medicine snake relocation course allowed Sailors to practice safely relocating reptiles from areas where they pose a threat. Sailors with 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, established a Role II capabilities display to give service members the opportunity to view their full facilities. Preventive medicine technicians displayed and offered courses on their food and water sanitation test, snake relocation and entomology surveillance capabilities. Members of the Utah National Guard conducted humanitarian/civic assistance operations as part of Exercise African Lion 15, May 17-21 at various locations near Tiznit, Morocco. Medical and dental personnel with the UTNG worked alongside members of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and Tunisian Armed Forces to provide medical and dental care to local Moroccans in need of services. The combined operations emphasizes the strong military bond between the U.S. and it's allies, improves interoperability between nations, building relationships with this key strategic region within the AFRICOM area of responsibility (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Navy Lt. Orlando Cabrera has spent the last two years incorporating acupuncture into his bag of medical treatments for service members in the military. Cabrera spent the last several months using acupuncture to help service members deployed to Camp Leatherneck, Helmand province, Afghanistan, where he treats everything from anxiety to battlefield related trauma. Cabrera said he is a physician first, and uses traditional medicine whenever it is most appropriate. However, he has seen the success of acupuncture on his patients, and he has experienced it's effects first hand.

A mass casualty drill turns into reality for Sailors and Marines with the Shock Trauma Platoon and Forward Resuscitative Surgery System at Forward Operating Base Edinburgh, Afghanistan, April 10. The medical personnel and security Marines were rehearsing roles in case the facility received multiple casualties at once when they received notification their drill was soon to be a reality.
