Townsend Bombing Range invited local residents to hunt aboard the range Nov. 17-18. The hunters were assigned specfic hunting areas where blinds were already set up. Nearly 23 hunters attended the two day event. This opporunity allowed the local community to build bonds and learn about their neighbors at TBR.

Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, also known as the Warlords, practice dropping inert or non-exploding bombs at Townsend Bombing Range, Ga. MCAS Beaufort owns and operates the training range so we can train to deploy without deploying to train.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) held a ribbon cutting ceremony in Hortense, Ga. Oct. 16. The ceremony was held to announce the acquisition of land for the Sansavilla Wildlife Management area (WMA). The funds for the purchases came from the Georgia DNR conservation fund, the nature Conservancy, the Department of Defense's Enviromental Protection Integration program, and the Marine Corps purchased a restricted use of easement to buffer Townsend Bombing Range. The Sansavilla acquisition will be key in the conservation of the Gopher Tortoise and 12 other species state protected or federally protected.
