U.S. Marines with 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, participate in a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation (MCCRE) on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Sept. 23, 2019. 5th Marines conducted a regimental-sized MCCRE for 1st Battalion, 5th Marines and 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, as well as the Regimental Headquarters to increase the combat proficiency and readiness of the regiment. U.S. Marines with Combined Anti-Armor Team 1, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, and Australian soldiers with Direct Fire Support Weapon Platoon, 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, 1st Brigade, conduct bilateral live-fire training during Exercise Predator Walk, May 20 to June 5, at Mount Bundey Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia. The exercises included firing heavy machine guns and missiles at mock targets from a support by fire position. Exercise Predator Walk is a battalion-level combined-arms Marine Air Ground Task Force exercise with the Australian Army, designed to enhance the skills of the ground combat, aviation combat and support element. Joshua Ploetz is a Wounded Warrior who is canoeing down the entire Mississippi River to support fellow warriors suffering from PTS and TBI and gain awareness. He is canoeing a total of 2,575 miles solo. Friday, July 25, Joshua stopped at New Orleans, La. to a surprise welcome from Marines who work at Marine Forces Reserve. Joshua started his journey May 19th and plans to finish by the end of July. Joshua served in the Marine Corps from 2002-2006. He was with machine guns, weapons Plt., Lima Co., 3rd BN, 3rd Marines and Alpha Co., 1st BN, 3rd Marines. Also available in high definition.
