Matthew Danner, the commanding officer of the 31st MEU, between June 2, 2022 - May 20, 2024. Lt. Col. Brendan Neagle, the operations officer between 2021 - 2023, highlights the 31st MEU’s crisis response efforts in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea; the strengthened relationship with allies and partnerships; as well as the command climate and care for the Marines, which set the environment for the 31st MEU to succeed. Large-Scale Exercise (LSE) 2021 was a live, virtual and constructive, scenario-driven, globally integrated exercise conducted from Aug. 3-16, 2021 that provided high-end training at sea and ashore against a challenging adversary force. LSE 2021 demonstrated the flexibility inherent within Distributed Maritime Operations, Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations, and Littoral Operations in a Contested Environment signaling to our competitors the U.S. military remains ready at the high-end of warfare expressly because of its global operation commitments, rather than in spite of them.

The S2ME2 Task Force is a core team of operational, acquisition and technical subject matter experts from the office of Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (DASN RDT&E) and Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) is hosting S2ME2 ANTX 17 aboard Camp Pendleton, April 17-28.
