The Marines took part in a Continental U.S. Based Alert Force exercise which sent the Marines to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, where they demonstrated the ability to move an entire company of Marines to a foreign country on short notice. The Marines are with 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment.

Marines from 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment take Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense classes on Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Marines are in Cuba as part of a CONUS Based Alert Force readiness mission.

Marines, with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division trained in embassy reinforcement tactics Feb. 13-15 aboard Camp Upsher, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The goal of the Continental U.S. Based Alert Force training exercise was to ensure a battalion-sized force could deploy and set up within a 96 hour time frame, and reorganize into a larger force if necessary.
