U.S. Marines demonstrated their amphibious assault abilities to distinguished visitors and guests from across NATO during Baltic Operations 16 at Ustka, Poland, June 16, 2016. The event marked the conclusion of this year's BALTOPS, which brought together approximately 6,100 troops from 17 NATO allies and partner nations to enhance and sustain relationships, counter transnational threats and build security in the Baltic Sea region.

Pacific Fury

U.S. Marines with Tank Platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participate in Exercise Alligator Dagger in Djibouti, Africa, Dec. 6-22. This exercise enabled the tank platoon to conduct multiple firing ranges, practice tank formations, and perform annual maintenance. This exercise provided an opportunity for the three ships of the Makin-Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th MEU to come together and conduct amphibious training within the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. Gunnery Sgt. Robert B. Brown Jr. directed this video and provided supplemental videography. Lance Cpl. Zachery Laning edited and provided the bulk of the videography.

Exercise Alligator Dagger

U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit participate in Exercise Alligator Dagger in Djibouti, Africa, Dec. 6-22, 2016. The unilateral exercise provided an opportunity for the Makin-Island Amphibious Ready Group and the 11th MEU to train in amphibious operations and combat sustainment training ashore in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. The 11th MEU is currently supporting U.S. 5th Fleet's mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region.

11th MEU Certification Exercise

U.S. Marines and Sailors with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct its Certification Exercise off the coast of California, Sept. 7-23, 2016. CERTEX is the final exercise, in which the MEU is evaluated and certified to deploy to the Central and Pacific Commands' areas of responsibilities during their upcoming WestPac 16-2 deployment.

U.S. Marines came together with various NATO allies and partner nations for a tactical exercise during Baltic Operations 16 at Utö Island, Sweden, June 10-13, 2016. The exercise required multiple nations to conduct a combined offensive attack on a notional enemy force. This year, BALTOPS brings together 17 NATO allies and partner nations and approximately 6,100 service members in order to build relationships, counter transnational threats and bolster security and stability in the Baltic Sea region.

U.S., Morocco Improve Demining Capability

Students from across the Moroccan military branches are working together with U.S. Marines from Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa to build up demining capabilities. The training is part of the U.S. Humanitarian Mine Action Program which aims to educate and train partner nations on removing explosive remnants of prior conflict while relieving human suffering.
