Nightmare 96 is an educational one and a half minute safety brief for the upcoming holiday break. Highlighting safe driving practices, time management, drinking responsibly and weapons safety. Lance Cpl. Jane Schmuckatelli, played by Cpl. Tessa Watts a combat correspondent, is driving drunk during the last few hours of a long weekend break, trying to make it back to her base before morning accountability. She runs out of gas and is stranded on the side of a deserted road, as her corporal texts her wondering about her welfare, she becomes overwhelmed by the consequences of her actions. Suddenly, Schmuckatelli wakes up in her own room on the first day of the extended weekend. Northern Strike 17, a National Guard hosted exercise, brings together service members from across the U.S. Department of Defense as well as service members from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Latvia, Canada and Poland. Marine Forces Reserve participation in Northern Strike 17 focused on strengthening and refining mechanized, amphibious, land and air capabilities while operating in a joint and multinational capacity. Task Force 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment used Northern Strike 17 to gauge overall training and readiness levels as they prepare for Integrated Training Exercise 2018 and future mobilizations and deployments in 2019.

COLD LAKE, AB, CANADA – Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 473, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, participated in Exercise Maple Flag 50 at Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake during exercise Maple Flag, May 29 – June 23, 2017. The Marines with MWSS-473 provided support for the exercise by constructing forward arming and refueling points, allowing Canadian Bell CH-146 Griffons, and Canadian CH-147F Chinook to refuel closer to their missions.
