Cpl. Connor Scott, from Long Island, New York, conducts a tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel exercise along side his working dog Bobo for Blue Chromite on Okinawa, Japan Oct. 28, 2015. The event was part of Blue Chromite 2016, which builds cohesion among elements of the Marine Air Ground Task Force. Blue Chromite is a large-scale, cost-effective on-island exercise led by 4th Marine Regiment. Each element of III Marine Expeditionary Force is represented in Blue Chromite. The training gave Marines with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, Headquarters Company, K-9 Platoon a chance to have realistic recovery exercise.

An end of course video production featuring the highlights of Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course 1-16 in Yuma, Ariz., from Sept. 6 to Oct. 25, 2015. WTI is a seven week training event hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) cadre, which emphasizes operational integration of the six functions of Marine Corps aviation in support of a Marine Air Ground Task Force. MAWTS-1 provides standardized advanced tactical training and certification of unit instructor qualifications to support Marine aviation training and readiness and assists in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics. Cpl. Connor Scott fast ropes out of a CH-53E Super Stallion Helicopter with his military working dog Bobo at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 8, 2015. Scott fast roped out of the CH-53E with Bobo attached to his back. The training familiarized the working dog and handler with riding on the helicopter and fast roping down in helicopter born assaults.

U.S. Marines with Landing Force Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (LF CARAT) floated Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV P7) to reserve craft beach aboard Naval Base Guam. Marines from the Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) stationed at Naval Station Rota, Spain, visited the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, for a week of training in May 2015.

Marines with the Bravo Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company on Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Yorktown, Virginia conducted an operational readiness exercise, which evaluates the team’s ability to perform riot control. The ORE determines of the marines are ready to take their final step in pre-deployment training. After completing and meeting the requirements of the ORE evaluation the Marines will go to Quantico, Virginia for their final phase of pre-deployment training. Video produced by Cpl. Schrick.

Marines and sailors from various units participated in a two week Helicopter Rope Suspension Training (HRST) Master course aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 23 - March 6, 2015. Students in the course gained knowledge from their Marine instructors from Expeditionary Operations Training Group on fast roping and rappelling techniques to take back to their units as HRST Masters. The insertion technique allows the Marines to slide down a rope into a variety of difficult landing zones and expands their operational capabilities throughout the region. Two Marines established an anchor point just beneath the Osprey, allowing the Marines above them to slide down in rapid succession and secure their landing zone. Interview includes Spanish languages. Interviews: Sgt. Kevin Perez, Miami, Florida, native Translation: My role in the fast rope training is as an instructor. I have many positions I can be in. I can be in the helicopter sending Marines out, or I can be on the ground ensuring they are safe and no accidents occur. This training helps us to be ready to react quickly for any circumstances. Whether it is combat, humanitarian aid, or disaster relief. Wherever they need us we can be there and we don’t need a lot of room or a lot of equipment, just a helicopter that can lower us close enough to insert ourselves. Being in charge of a squad is easy because I have had some time doing it, but there are always obstacles that come, especially here because it is a completely different location then what we have been in before. Being a leader in Spain is partly hard because it is a new place, but at the same time it is good because we are together, were going places together, and while being ready to react to whatever may happen. We’re here like a family.
