Package of U.S. Marines serving with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, and guardsmen of 3rd Battalion Singapore Guards conducting live-fire familiarization training during Exercise Valiant Mark at ranges 223A and 203B here. Valiant Mark is an annual bilateral exercise between the U.S. Marine Corps and Singaporean Armed Forces. During Valiant Mark, both forces train side-by-side to exchange tactics and imporve military relations. The exercise is being conducted in conjunction with Steel Knight, and annual exercise designed to train the 1st Marine Division for deployment as teh ground combat element of a Marine air-ground task force. The focus of the exercise is to ensure that 1st Marine Division is fully prepared to deploy as an expeditionary force acress the range of military operations and is capable of responding to any crisis across the world. Interviews include Capt. Jacob Jones, the company commander of Fox Company, 2nd Bn., 5th Marines, a 30-year-old native of New Orleans and Capt. Yap Shiahao, a company commander with 3rd Bn.
