U.S. Marine Corps bulk fueling specialists with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), conduct a Forward Arming and Refueling Point (FARP) exercise on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 30, 2021. A FARP is used to extend the capabilities of rotary or fixed wing aircrafts to allow rearming and refueling without having to fall back to a forward operating base. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region. The Station Fuels Department aboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni receives the Naval Fuel Management Award, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, May 7, 2021. The department was presented with the Naval Supply Systems Command award for excellence in Naval Fuel Management for their performance in continuously supplying fuel throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They provided more than 11 million gallons of fuel to tenant aviation units within the past year ensuring the air station and tenant units remained mission ready.
