BootCamp Challenge offers civilians the unique chance to experience a taste of Marine Corps boot camp board Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Oct 14. This unique race will feature obstacles used only by Marine recruits, plus over 60 USMC Drill Instructors “staff” the course, providing direction and encouragement for participants.

High school educators from Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas participated in the Educator's Workshop aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Marine Corps Base Miramar and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Aug. 7-11, 2017. The workshop is a four-day program designed to better inform high school and college educators about the benefits and opportunities available during service in the Marine Corps. This allows the attendees to return to their place of business and provide firsthand experience and knowledge to individuals interested in military service.

Week five serves as the final week of Phase I, which is when recruits participate in swim qualifications and conduct an initial Physical Fitness Test.

More than 500 United States Marine Corps enlistees and their family and friends from across the state of Arizona converged in Phoenix for the 2017 annual Marine Corps Recruiting Station Phoenix pool function, March 4, 2017. The purpose of the function is to screen and physically test the Marine applicants, while at the same time give them a preview of what they may be able to expect once they ship off to U.S. Marine Corps boot camp. The applicants, from 13 recruiting substations located throughout Arizona, ran an initial strength test made up of pull-ups, crunches, and a one and a half mile run. They ate a Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) for lunch and had question and answer sessions with Marine Corps drill instructors. To complete the day the recruiting substations competed in a fitness relay, culminating what being a Marine is about – camaraderie, teamwork and unity. (U.S. Marine Corps multimedia by Staff Sgt. The Transformation is a series that follows each week of recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. During week two, recruits meet their drill instructors for the first time, learn Marine Corps Core Values and are introduced to the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program.
