Marine Recon and Scout Snipers Train Marksmanship with Thai and Korean Special Forces

Amphibious Reconnaissance and Scout Sniper Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit train combat marksmanship with Navy SEALS from the Republic of Korea and Royal Thai Marine special forces. Marines of the MEU’s scout sniper platoon led the training, where all parties fired at multiple targets ranging from 100 to 400 meters. All three nations fired the Marine Corps’ M40A3 and M40A5 sniper rifles. Staff Sgt. 31st MEU Marines Conduct Decontamination Exercise with Thai Forces

Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear defense specialists with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted a decontamination exercise alongside Thai Marines and Air Force personnel as part of Cobra Gold 2012. The scenario simulated a chemical attack on Thai forces, requiring casualty evacuation and decontamination by the combined forces. U.S. Marines and Navy Corpsmen provided treatment to non-ambulatory casualties while Thai forces administered decontamination to all ambulatory forces. Also available in high definition. Lance Cpl. Marines and Sailors with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, execute an amphibious assault alongside Thai and Korean allies as part of multi-lateral training exercise Cobra Gold 2012. Approximately 140 U.S. Marines, in 13 vehicles, joined forces with approximately 100 Korean Marines and 100 Royal Thai Marines to conduct the training.
