Dutch Marines traveled nearly 1,600 miles to conduct bilateral training with U.S. Marines with II Marine Expeditionary Force during a weeklong exercise at Camp Lejeune, N.C., March 21-24, 2017. The training increases interoperability between the Korps Mariniers and U.S. Marines working side-by-side as partner nations. These Dutch Marines, stationed in Aruba, welcome the opportunity to work in the cooler temperatures and urban training environment offered by North Carolina. In turn, U.S. Marines will travel to Aruba to perfect their tactics in a hot climate and perform multiple dive operations on the island. Marine Corps Installations Partnership Program Urges Communities and Bases to Find Common Ground on Similar Services

More than a hundred military and civilian community members met at the City of Jacksonville Department of Public Safety Wednesday morning to discuss areas of mutual interest as part of Marine Corps Installations Partnership Program. The vision of the program is to initiate and develop mutually beneficial partnerships between local commands and their communities in order to reduce operating costs, diminish risks, and enhance community relationships. Wednesday's meeting allowed civilian and military stakeholders to introduce themselves and facilitated brainstorming sessions to determine where shared equities could be realized. A future meeting scheduled March 28 will allow newly-formed working groups to identify potential partnership initiatives and strategize how to pursue those partnerships with the goal of eventually drafting mutually beneficial agreements.

Call For Fire! Marines Go Virtual!

The Marine Corps and the Office of Naval Research tested out new augmented reality technology at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 13, 2016. The Augmented Immersive Team Trainer is designed to train forward observers on how to better work with artillery as a cohesive unit known as a joint terminal attack controller. The AITT enables the Marine Corps to train faster, cheaper and more efficiently. The story includes interviews with Lance Cpl. Kenneth Overstreet, a Fire Support Marine with 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division and Capt. Kevin Fitzsimmons, the Weapons Company Commander with 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division.

Marines and Sailors Dive, Rise, Dive Again

Marines of 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion conducted a battalion pre-dive at the courthouse bay training tank, at Camp Lejeune, Oct. 13, 2016. Marines and sailors endured the pre-dive assessment in the hopes of qualifying for a spot in Combat Dive School. The test consisted of various physically demanding water challenges, such as swimming with hands bound, passing weights while treading water, tying knots at the bottom of a pool, and more. The pre-dive is designed to narrow down the number of Combat Dive School Candidates to those who are comfortable pushing their limits under water.

New Conservation Law Enforcement Office to open on Lejeune

Cpl. Ned Johnson walks through the new Conservation Law Enforcement Office opening soon on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Aug. 12. The new office will provide hunters with an easy game check station which will be open 24 hours to allow hunters to weigh their harvested game and register with state and local authorities online. In addition to an entirely new main office, the facility will also feature a new classroom that can hold up to 35 students for hunter safety classes, international bow hunting certifications and more. Conservation law enforcement will be operating in the new facility Aug. 29.
