This week on our “Did You Know” series, we highlight the U.S. Marine Corps Battle Color. Corporal Dalton Holmes gives us some insight about why the Battle Color here at “The Oldest Post” is so unique, and why it’s such an honor to be the organizational flag bearer!

Marines with Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany’s Military Funeral Honors Detail pay last respects to a fallen service member during a funeral service at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Ga., recently. The detail consisted of an eight-man team conducting the 21-gun salute, a bugler and a two-man flag team. A Marine from the two-man flag team presented the family with the folded national ensign upon completion of the ceremony. Marines attached to MCLB Albany conduct about 75 military funerals honors each year throughout the Southeast region.

Rush, embarkation specialist, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, enjoys representing the history and traditions of the Marine Corps as a member of the color guard aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif.
