Leave a comment below letting us know what other #AviationAcademics you’d like us to cover! -------------------------------------------- “L” is for 2nd LAAD – 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion’s Mission is to provide close-in, low altitude, and surface-to-air weapons fire, in defense of Marine Air-Ground Task Force assets by defending forward combat areas, vital areas, installations and/or units conducting operations.

Marines assigned to 2d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion conducted a field exercise aboard Marine Corps Outlying Field Atlantic, Jan. 25, 2017. During the exercise, 2d LAAD Bn. Marines focused on ground to air defense while supporting MV-22 Osprey units overhead.
