U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Ronald Ramsey, a reconnaissance Marine with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, explains the hardships he encountered while undergoing the United States Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course and how it has helped him build a stronger bond with our Japanese allies on White Beach, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 16, 2019. "One hand pretty much washes the other," said Ramsey, a native of Westland, Michigan. "We help them and they are simultaneously helping us." Using the training he has received through the Marine Corps, Ramsey helped local Okinawans by diving into the ocean and conducting a site survey and verification of large rocks, which were causing damage to Japanese ships when entering the loading docks. 31st MEU NCOs tour Okinawa battle sites

Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit participate in a historical battle site tour in Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 19, 2019. Marines toured Kakazu Ridge, Camp Kinser Battle of Okinawa Historical Display, Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters , and Okinawa Peace Memorial Park to learn about the Marine Corps’ actions in Okinawa during World War II, with the tour supported by the Marine Corps Association & Foundation. The battlefield study was part of MCA&F’s Commanders’ Forum Program which provides battlefield studies and guest speakers free of charge, to help Marines grow as tactical decision makers and leaders. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region. MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. Marines with the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion execute tactical site exploitation training on April 21, 2016 at Camp Pendleton. The Marines searched rooms and vehicles to find explosives, drugs, ammunition, guns, electronic devices, DNA samples, or any type of evidence that could link suspects to illegal activities or help to track a suspect. Marines Gain Experience in Tactical Site Exploitation

Marines with Bravo Company and Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, and their detachments, participated in a three day Tactical Site Exploitation course at a Military Operations on Urban Terrain town aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, April 1-3, 2015. The training focused on teaching the Marines how to approach a building and thoroughly search through it for weapons and bomb making materials, how to question the owner of the house, and collect evidence that could be used later by the local government to convict a suspected improvised explosive device maker.

A recent fire uncovered century-old fighting positions most recently used during the battle for Guam in World War II. Local Marines visited the site recently to assist the National Park Service in a site survey of the historical find, which comes just months before the 70th anniversary of Guam’s island-wide liberation celebration in July.
