Marines from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma wrap up reclamation operations in and around the impact site of an AV-8B Harrier II aircraft that crashed into a residential neighborhood in Imperial, Calif., June 4th. The Marines will turn over cleaning and restoration responsibilities to government contractors and the MCAS Yuma Environmental Department while assisting with site security. After completing the prerequisite training, Sanchez was afforded the opportunity to fly in an AV-8B Harrier II based on his superior performance and as an incentive for reenlisting for another four years of service in the Marine Corps.
