British Royal Marine Commandos, Romanian Mountain Brigade soldiers and U.S. Marines with Black Sea Rotational Force conduct the culminating three-day final exercise during Exercise Platinum Lynx, May 12-14, 2015. The British Royal Marine Commandos conducted reconnaissance of the area in the Carpathian Mountain Range early that morning to support the movement of U.S. Marines into an assault position while the Romanian soldiers conducted the support by fire. Roughly 45 Romanians, 25 U.S. Marines and 13 British Royal Marine Commandos participated in the exercise.

The Marine team has been training since September 15 in order to build team cohesion and acclimate to the above 6,000 ft. altitude of Colorado Springs. The Marine team is comprised of both active duty and veteran wounded, ill and injured Marines who are attached to or supported by the Wounded Warrior Regiment, the official unit of the Marine Corps charged with providing comprehensive non-medical recovery care to wounded, ill and injured Marines. The Warrior Games are a Paralympic-style competition for more than 200 wounded, ill and injured service members and are taking place September 28 to October 4 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment conducted a Mountain Warfare Exercise aboard Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Pickle Meadows, Calif., June 19, 2014. The Marines were aboard the MWTC for 30 days prior to the exercise, learning mountain survival and warfare techniques. Marines also conducted courses such as assault climbing, mountain communications, mountain medicine, mountain sniper and an animal packing course.
