During times of war, the battlefield demands all service members to be trained in basic first aid. However, two dozen service members aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni stepped up for an advanced combat medics course in order to broaden their skill set. Corporal Fareeza Ali formed up to bring you the story. Includes interviews with service members from Colona, Ill., Burrillville, R.I., and Columbus, Texas.

Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Ralph Bellamour, talks about basic life-saving skills taught at the Combat Lifesaver Course at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 1, 2017. Bellamour, from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is a tactical combat casualty care instructor with the Tactical Medical Simulation Center, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Bellamour describes his experience as a first responder during the 2010 Haiti earthquake and how it influenced his decision to join the Navy.

U.S. Sailors with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command 16.2, U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 363, SPMAGTF-CR-CC 16.2, and Airmen with the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group, participate in a mass casualty exercise at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Aug. 29, 2016.
