One Airman at Kunsan AB found the best way to connect with troops is to get back to the basics and really get his hands dirty. SGT Timothy Villareal explains. Reporter: The Airmen at Fire Crash and Rescue had a visit from an unexpected guest. The Commander of 8th Civil Engineers Squadron, Dustin “Devil” Richards had an opportunity to get face to face with his troops in a personal way. SB: Fire and emergency services is one of the fights that I’m responsible for, one of the six flights which we have in civil engineers, so what I wanted to do was come out and see what a day of the firefighter was like.Reporter: This is not any normal visit for him but it is well received by all the Airmen alike. SB: It’s really cool to see your Commander actually coming out and trying to learn people by name and knowing who you are instead of just being a normal Airman. Reporter: “Devil” participated in a block of instruction that involved a hands on portion that many wouldn’t have the stomach for. SB: It shouldn’t hurt, if it does, just let me know and I’ll pull it right out. SB: I did the nasopharyngeal airway opening which was the first time I have had one of those inserted so, we get some good hands on training for the guys who would really do it in real life.SB: Completely in.SB: Yup, I can feel it.
