The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing's F-35B Lightning II aircraft reached initial operating capability with a squadron of 10 F-35Bs ready for worldwide deployment, July 31.

The F-35B Lighting II Joint Strike Fighter is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft that provides the capabilities to sustain and maximize the effectiveness of the Marine Corps' aviation combat element. The operational testing (OT-1) of the F-35B evaluated and assessed the integration of the F-35B into Marine Corps aviation while operating across different flight, maintenance and logistical operations that are seen in the Marine Corps' operating forces. The 2015 Yuma Airshow took place February 27th through 28th at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. The show highlighted performances by civilian and military acts for both the Twilight Show and the day time show. The airshow allows the community to get an up-close look at modern aviation and to interact with Marine Corps and Navy personnel.
