Marines, Sailors Participate in Non-Lethal Weapons Course

Marines and sailors with 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion and 8th Marine Regiment conducted Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray training during a two-week long non-lethal weapons instructors course at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Sept. 30, 2015. The purpose of the training was to build confidence in the Marines and sailor's abilities to proficiently employ the OC spray, which is a lachrymatory agent, during policing, riot control, crowd control and self defense when necessary. U.S. Marines and sailors with Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), conduct a non-lethal weapons training course aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Sept. 1 to Sept. 4, 2015. Marines and Sailors were tested on non-lethal weapons handling and procedures in preparation for their deployment to the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility later this year. Recruiting Stations Louisville and Charleston Hosts Mini OCS

Future U.S. Marine Corps candidates from Recruiting Stations Charleston and Louisville hosted a mini Officer Candidates School at Camp Sherman Joint Training Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, May 24-26. The candidates got a first hand experience at some of the things they will experience in OCS at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, such as land navigation, field operations and fitness tests. Interviews by: Capt. Nathan Jacob, assigned to OST Columbus and native of Ashland, Ohio; Mackenzie Dean, a future Marine Corps officer candidate and Greenwood, Indiana native; and 2nd Lt. Benjamin Shuler, a recent OCS graduate and Bowling Green, Ohio native.

Marines with 1st Law Enforcement Battalion and Provost Marshal’s Office came together aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 14, 2015, to complete Oleoresin Capsicum (OC spray) training. This was part of a two-week course designed to qualify new non-lethal weapons instructors.
