Welcome to The Corps Report, the Corps' premiere web update. In this week's episode, the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit prepares for deployment with the USS America (CVA/CV-66), Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis swears in, and severe weather conditions affect bases across the United States.

Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit took off from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni April 19, and landed aboard the JS Hyuga (DDH 181) in order to load releif supplies for the residents of the island of Kyushu. The 31st MEU is the only continually forward-deployed MEU and remains the Marine Corps' force-in-readiness in the Asia-Pacific region. (U.S. Marine Corps Video by Sgt. Royce Dorman)

Marines with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment conducted Squad Support Attack training exercises aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The intent of the exercise was to prepare their Marines for an upcoming Deployment For Training field operation April 19.

Capt. Micah Hudson, a Daytona, Fla., native, is the newest addition to the Marine Corps Recruiting Command’s (MCRC’s) diversity advertising initiative, Fighting with Purpose. The campaign originally launched in November 2012 and was intended to reinforce the broader notion of service among the millennial generation — helping others who are in need of help, wherever they may be.
