U.S. Marines with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa trained alongside Army Green Berets in Baumholder, Germany, July 6-10, 2015. The Marines flew from Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, and completed an embassy reinforcement at a training area in Baumholder. The training allowed the Marines to test their ability to rapidly launch a crisis response force and secure an embassy during a time of crisis. They also joined with Army Green Berets and completed a series of combat marksmanship and close-quarters combat exercises to increase their ability to operate side by side. U.S. Marines with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa completed a live-fire training range with U.S. Army Special Forces in Baumholder, Germany, March 3, 2015. The training prepared the Marines to engage targets in close quarters and from behind a variety of concealed positions. Special Forces personnel demonstrated a series of shooting techniques for the Marines before working through live-fire maneuver drills at the base. The training familiarized the Marines with Special Forces tactics and procedures, paving the way for future operations where the two groups may be working side by side. U.S. Marines with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa and Army Special Forces operators completed their final, joint training mission in Baumholder, Germany, March 11, 2015. The Marines secured the perimeter around a target building, which Special Forces operators assaulted to capture a high-value target. Role players engaged the operators as they attempted to extract their prisoner. U.S. Marines with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa trained with Army Special Forces to complete an urban maneuver course at Baumholder, Germany, March 5, 2015. The training taught the Marines to use the hidden passageways that abound in urban environments to conceal their movements. It also prepared them to work as a team to scale walls, climb through windows and over rafters. The course provided an opportunity for the Marines to familiarize themselves with techniques for using specialized scaling ladders and even common household furnishing to move into and over structures. U.S. Marines with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa trained for urban battle scenarios with U.S. Army Special Forces in Baumholder, Germany, March 4, 2015. Special Forces personnel worked with the Marines to hone their ability to clear buildings as a decisive team, preparing the two groups for potential future operations together. The training culminated in a combined raid on a multistory structure, where the Marines cleared room after room using the techniques taught by Special Forces instructors.
