U.S. and Filipino Forces conducted a combined armed live firing exercise, CALFEX, as the culminating event for Exercise Balikatan 2015. U.S. Marines with Detachment A, Marine Air Control Squadron 4, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, built a solar powered device made of old military parts to power an AN/TRN-47 Deployable Beacon-Transponder, which provides tactical air navigation services. The device was designed by GySgt. Michael Ott and was tested for the first time during Exercise Balikatan 2015. The system saved the Marines of the detachment hours of work, man power, and hundreds of gallons of generator fuel. Balikatan is an annual Philippines-U.S. military training exercise and humanitarian assistance engagement, which highlights the long standing partnership between both nations.

Philippine and U.S. air forces hosted an Airpower Day for area youth at Clark Air Base, April 25 April 22, during Exercise Balikatan 2015. The event featured static aircraft from the Philippine and U.S. air forces as well as aircraft from the U.S. Marines, U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. The aircrew for each aircraft answered questions and interacted with the public. Balikatan is an annual Philippines-U.S. military training exercise and humanitarian assistance engagement, which highlights the long standing partnership between both the nations.

Philippine and U.S. Marines conduct bilateral logistics training at Crow Valley, Philippines, during Exercise Balikatan 2015. The Marines partnered together for 10 days of training to share their knowledge of expeditionary logistics. The Marines trained bilaterally on vehicle recovery practical applications, preventative vehicle maintenance, heavy equipment operations, landing support techniques and wrecker vehicle capabilities. U.S. and Filipino Marines conduct a regimental aerial assault into Crow Valley, Philippines, during exercise Balikatan 2015, April 19. MV-22 Tiltrotor Ospreys flew in dropping off infantry men from 4th Marine Regiment along with their Filipino counterparts into the valley to start the field training exercise Combined Vigilance. The large scale exercise in Crow Valley is a fully integrated training exercise with the Filipino and U.S. Marines working shoulder to shoulder, honing their war fighting skills and learning from each other. Exercise Balikatan is a bilateral training exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U. S. military to increase interoperability.
