Multinational service members participate in Khaan Quest 2016 Command Post Exercise (CPX) May 24 at Five Hills Training Area, Mongolia. The CPX aims to enhance battalion staff capabilities and interoperability to conduct peace, stability, and humanitarian assistance operations, as well as share experiences and procedures amongst participants to prepare for United Nations peacekeeping operations. U.S. Army MAJ Richard Mohammadi, with the Alaska Air National Guard, provides remarks on the CPX. Khaan Quest 2016 is an annual, multinational peacekeeping operations exercise hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces, co-sponsored by U.S. Pacific Command, and supported by U.S. Army Pacific and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. Khaan Quest, in its 14th iteration, is the capstone exercise for this year's Global Peace Operations Initiative program. The exercise focuses on training activities to enhance international interoperability, develop peacekeeping capabilities, build mil-to-mil relationships, and enhance military readiness. I MEF's CPX-2 is the second exercise in a four-part series, leading up to a live, virtual and constructive (LVC) exercise scheduled for August 2016 that tests I MEF command element's ability to develop and execute plans as a MEF-level deployed force (approx. 50,000 troops); and to improve the command element's ability to command and control operations in a complex environment that includes the employment of Joint, Cyber, Special Operations and Information related capabilities.
