Lance Cpl. James Stogner proved himself on the battlefield on April 5th, 1967 while serving with Charlie Company, 1st Marine Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment during the Vietnam War. 52 years later, on April 5th, 2019 in Polson, Montana, Stogner received the Navy Cross for his actions. Marines with Headquarters Company, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division participated in a ground fighting competition aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendelton, Calif., Sept. 9, 2016. After completing a 6 mile hike, the competition was conducted to build camaraderie between the Marines.
