Before Secretary of Defense Ash Carter's decision allowing women into combat related jobs, two lady leathernecks on Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni participated in a voluntary program to see if women could integrate successfully with their male counterparts. With this decision, these female Marine pioneers plan on changing their jobs to combat arms. Marine Cpl. Laiqa Hitt reports.

Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter visits service members aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Feb. 3. The Honorable Mr. Carter spent his visit meeting with Marines and handing out challenge coins.

The Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel spoke to Marines and Sailors aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Jan. 13. This visit was one of Hagel's last visits before retiring from office.
