A change of command ceremony for 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing is held at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, Feb. 27, 2026. The ceremony marked the transfer of command from Maj. Gen. James B. Wellons to Brig. Gen. Robert B. Brodie. Under the command of Wellons, the Wing operated across five geographic combatant commands and logged nearly half of all active-duty flight hours while maintaining the lowest mishap rate among like formations. Neary, visited Royal Navy’s newest aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, August 27, 2020. During the visit, Neary met with the carrier’s leadership and toured the HMS Queen Elizabeth to increase understanding of the U.S. Marine Corps’ future operations with the UK Carrier Strike Group. U.S. Marines from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 211, along with approximately six F-35B aircraft, will support the ship’s inaugural deployment in 2021. CLB-3 Marines awarded for selfless aide

Sgt. Arthur Whittaker and Staff Sgt. Nathanial Clark were recognized and awarded for their selfless acts of care during an awards ceremony, Dec. 14, 2017, at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. On their way to Guam, the Marines attended to an elderly man who was traveling alone and appeared to be disoriented. Whittaker and Clark spent the rest of the seven hour flight caring for him. Whittaker, a native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, is an electrical optical ordnance technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 3, 3d Marine Logistics Group. Clark, a native of Lakeville, Minnesota, is a ground communication maintenance technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 3, 3d Marine Logistics Group. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Pfc. 2nd Marine Division marches for their birthday

Marines with 2nd Marine Division participated in a 50 mile hike at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 1, 2017. The hike originated in 1908 with an executive order administered by President Theodore Roosevelt and has since then only been attempted and completed twice since its inception. The hike was a challenge open to officers and enlisted personnel and allowed the Marines to bond as a unit as they step together.
