Jacob Wooten discuss the operations of the Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation (MCCRE) and William Pendleton Thompson Hill competition (WPT Hill) on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb 26, 2020. The MCCRE is an exercise which evaluates 3rd Maintenance Battalion’s capabilities and combat readiness. The WPT Hill competition is an event held annually that evaluates all aspects of field mess operations to include sanitation, food preparation, storage, financial accounting and equipment and maintenance. Tran, a native of San Diego, California, is the logistics chief for Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group. U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 cook a three-course meal during a food service evaluation designed for the Maj. Gen. William Pendleton Thompson Hill Award at Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan, December 8, 2017. MWSS-172 Marines competed to earn the title ‘Best Field Mess’ for the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 1985, the W.P.T Hill award was created to reward high quality food service by identifying the best mess halls and field messes throughout the Marine Corps and encouraging a commitment to excellence through competition.
