Petty Officer 3rd Class Robert Nard, from Little Rock, Arkansas, is a Religious Programs Specialist with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion at Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. RP3 Nard was unable to afford his mother's funeral costs when he received the news that his mother had suddenly died from a stroke in 2015. With assistance from the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, RP3 Nard was able to make the trip home and attend his mother's funeral, as well as provide a proper funeral to honor his mother.
