The military is always changing. When one soldier heard that she could be one of the first generations of female soldiers to have the chance of serving in the Army under a combat arms role, she took it. Suggested Tag: on January 24th, 2013, then Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta removed the military's ban on women serving in combat. Then, in December of 2015, Defense Secretary Ash Carter stated that starting in 2016, all combat jobs would be open to women.
