Service members from the U.S., the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Australian Defence Force come together during a cooperative health engagement (CHE) event in Pagasa, Bataan, Philippines April 12, 2019 as part of Exercise Balikatan. The Armed Forces of the Philippines, U.S. military, and the Australian Defence Force conduct numerous humanitarian projects throughout the Philippines. These projects are done with the combined efforts of the AFP, U.S. military, and the ADF as part of Exercise Balikatan 2019. Balikatan is an annual military training exercise hosted by the Philippines between the AFP and U.S. military designed to build U.S. and Philippine defense readiness while strengthening multinational relationships.

Exercise Balikatan 2018 took place at Colonel Ernesto Ravina Air Base, Philippines, May 7-18, 2018. Lt. Col. William H. U.S. Marines hike shoulder to shoulder with the Philippine Army to the Capas National Shrine for the first ever Freedom March, April 11. The ten-kilometer hike brought together the two military forces to commemorate the fallen American and Filipino prisoners of war who lost their lives during the forced “Death March” out of the Bataan Peninsula during World War II.

On 23 March 2012, U.S. Army combat engineers from 84th Engineer Battalion and Philippine Army engineers from 51st Engineer Brigade work together constructing new facilities at Tagbarungis Elementary School and Inagawan National High School, Tagbarungis Annex, in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines, as part of exercise Balikatan 2012 humanitarian and civic assistance events.
