U.S. Marines with Koa Moana16-4 apply techniques learned from a Combat Life Saver course (CLS) on Camp Pendleton June 14, 2016. The Marines were taught combat lifesaving skills in preparation for Koa Moana 16-4. During the course, Marines learned basic medical techniques to provide care for injuries in a field or combat environment which increases the probability of survival. The Koa Moana exercise seeks to enhance senior military leader engagements between allied and partner nations in the Pacific with a collective interest in military-to-military relations and to discuss key aspects of military operations, capability development and interoperability in the South Pacific.
