USS Patriot set sail from Sasebo, Japan to Mutsu Bay off the northern coast of Honshu Island to take part in the bilateral naval exercise 2-JA with their counterparts in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, but the Patriot is no ordinary naval vessel and 2-JA is no ordinary exercise. Petty Officer Phill Stuart reports from Mutsu Bay, Japan on what makes USS Patriot and 2-JA so unique.
