Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing celebrate seventy-five years of historic moments, missions and people at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Aug. 18, 2016. The 2nd MAW and the air station joined forces in April of 1946. Since then, MCAS Cherry point has been home to, and continually contributed to 2nd MAW in its mission of conducting air operations in support of the Fleet Marine Force to include offensive air support, anti-air warfare, assault support, aerial reconnaissance, electronic warfare, and control of aircraft and missiles.
