U.S. Marines instruct Royal Cambodian Sailors on non-lethal weapons and tactics at Ream Naval Base, Sihanoukville, Cambodia, Nov. 1, 2016. This training took place as part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 16. CARAT 2016 is a nine-country, bilateral exercise series between the United States and Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. This phase of CARAT focuses on partnerships between the forces of the US and Cambodia, and Brunei. As the premier naval engagement in South and Southeast Asia, CARAT provides a regional venue to address shared maritime security priorities, enhance interoperability among participation forces, and develop key relationships that will serve partner nations for many years to come. U.S. Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Africa conduct non-lethal weapons training aboard Morón Air Base, Spain, May 6, 2016. Each Marine was exposed to oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray and sent through a course of aggressors to test their ability to execute non-lethal martial arts techniques while under the effects of the spray.
