Combat Lifesaver Course: Marines step up in the absence of Corpsmen

Combat Lifesaver is a course designed to teach Marines how to save someone’s life in a combat environment. During the three-day class, Marines learn how to insert an intravenous (IV) device, apply tourniquets and regulate a person's respiratory system. The Marines are with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, which is a forward deployed unit from Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, to 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force based in Okinawa, Japan. U.S. Marines with the Ground Combat Element, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin (MRF-D), participate in Exercise Tafakula, Taliai Military Camp, Tonga, Aug. 12-23, 2019. Tafakula is a multilateral exercise hosted by His Majesty’s Armed Forces of Tonga, which includes MRF-D Marines and service members from the New Caledonian Armed Forces, the New Zealand Defence Force, the Australian Defence Force and the Nevada National Guard. Tactical Casualty Combat Care | Killing the Game

Marines with 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and 3rd Marine Division completed a four-day Tactical Combat Casualty Care course using the Tactical Medical Simulation Center, a III Marine Expeditionary Force asset, on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, March 8, 2018. The course is designed to hone service-members’ critical thinking, tactical combat care skills and meet the diverse medical requirements needed while operating within the Pacific region. With a motto of “Eliminating preventable deaths on the battlefield,” the center provides the latest evidence-based combat medicine practices to as many Marines and Sailors as possible. A Look Into "White Viper"

Marines with Charlie Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, participate in exercise "White Viper", which consists of multiple cold-weather combat contingencies in Camp Fuji, Japan and Sendai, Japan, Jan. 22-Feb. 23, 2018. The Marines in Charlie Company learned cold weather survival as well as several new combat related training missions and operations. As the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed Marine Expeditionary Unit, the 31st MEU provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide range of military operations. Combat Life Saver Course (CLS)

Marines with Provost Marshal Office's Special Reaction Team, the Marine Corps version of SWAT, undergoes the 'kill house' Oct. 5 aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The CLS course educates and trains Marines in basic casualty and combat care, preparing them to provide aide to injured service members in combat situations. Marines learn to provide similar life-sustainment care that a corpsman would administer until the causality can be treated by a medical professional. The final test is a high intensity course that simulates the loud, hectic environment of a real life combat situation known as ‘kill house.’ SRT scrambles to save their battle buddies, effectively treat wounds and report their position.
