The new Marines of Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug 29th, 2025. Graduation took place at the completion of the 13-week transformation which included training for drill, marksmanship, basic combat skills, and Marine Corps customs and traditions. Following graduation, the Marines were given 10 days of leave before taking the next step in training at the School of Infantry at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California.

Enhancing Marine Corps Capabilities: New ACV training courses

U.S. Marines with the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Transition Training Unit completed a newly developed curriculum at the Assault Amphibian School at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, June 26-July 20, 2023. The Marine Corps' newly established ACV TTU developed and implemented two recently designed courses, the Operators Certification Course and Maintainers Certification Course, ensuring Marines possess the technical knowledge, skills, and proficiency required to safely operate, maintain, and employ the ACV. The Marine Corps is taking a deliberate approach to fielding the ACV to the Fleet Marine Force to ensure our Marines understand the platform’s capabilities and can operate it safely and proficiently. The exercise tested Marines’ ability to work with other services to quickly deploy aircraft, equipment and personnel as part of a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief response effort. Patriot Hook is the first in a series of exercises air station Marines are conducting over the summer to test their capabilities. While the air station is primarily a rotary wing air base, with its 6,000-foot runway it has the capability to support larger aircraft such as C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III. U.S. Marine Brig. Gen. Dan Conley, the commanding general of Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, along with other members of the MCI-West staff, receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the naval hospital on Camp Pendleton, California, Jan. 12, 2021. While the COVID-19 vaccination is voluntary, all beneficiaries and Marine Corps personnel are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated to protect their health and their community. Vaccines are being administered in a phased approach, prioritizing healthcare workers and first responders, as well as mission critical and deploying personnel. Vaccination distribution prioritization within DoD, and the Marine Corps, will be consistent with data-driven CDC guidance for national prioritization. Marines will continue to wear appropriate masks, practice social distancing, regularly wash their hands, and follow restriction of movement guidelines to maintain the safety of others as a large portion of the population will need to be vaccinated before COVID-19 risks diminish. Melissa Ugalde, a combat videographer with Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, explains what it was like to receive her diagnosis of Stage 4 Hodgkins lymphoma, Dec. 17, 2020, from her home in Oceanside, California.
