PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. – Recruits of Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, and Papa Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, learned and practiced the fundamentals of marksmanship Nov. 28 - Dec. 2, 2016, on Parris Island, S.C. Marksmanship instructors spend a week teaching recruits the fundamentals before the recruits shoot live rounds the following week. Recruits train with scopes because the Marine Corps now equips all rifles with scopes, and rifle marksmanship fundamentals remain the same. Both companies are scheduled to graduate Jan. 13, 2017.
