MRF-SEA Logistics: In Plain Sight

Prior to the start of Keris Marine Exercise (MAREX) 2024 on Nov. 6, hundreds of U.S. Marines with Marine Rotational Force – Southeast Asia (MRF-SEA) converged on Batam, Indonesia, from multiple countries to train with the Indonesian Korps Marinir. MRF-SEA logistics personnel ensured the rotational force’s movements remained low cost and low signature through the use of commercial aircraft flights and commuter ferry services to achieve intratheater movement of personnel and materials, in the air and throughout the littorals. “MRF-SEA Logistics: In Plain Sight” provides the audience a first-person perspective of how each member of MRF-SEA travels throughout the Indo-Pacific region to train with partners and allies, building interoperability and ensuring a persistent presence in the region. Service members from the Philippines, Japan and the United States conducted exercise KAMANDAG 3 from Oct. 9-Oct. 18, 2019, in the various places throughout the Philippines. The specific objectives of KAMANDAG, such as mutual defense, counterterrorism and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, promote realistic training that supports regional security. KAMANDAG is an acronym for the Filipino phrase “Kaagapay Ng Mga Manirigma Ng Dagat,” which translates to “Cooperation of the Warriors of the Sea,” highlighting the partnership between the U.S. and Philippine militaries.
