Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit endure a circuit while under the effects of Oleoresin Capsicum spray as part of a non-lethal weapons courseaboard USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), Dec. 30, 2017 . The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted amphibious sustainment training on Oahu and the island of Hawaii, Oct. 19-23, after departing Naval Base San Diego, Oct. 14, for a scheduled deployment to the U.S. 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. The sustainment training allowed the Navy-Marine Corps team to sharpen the skills they learned during a six-month pre-deployment cycle, and included planning and execution of ship-to-shore operations, a company-sized helo-borne raid, combat marksmanship, fire support operations, and simulated convoy operations.

PHIBRON-MEU Integration (PMINT) is the first of three pre-deployment training events for the ARG/MEU. PMINT aims to enhance coordinated operation between PHIBRON 5, the 11th MEU, and the three ships comprising the ARG — amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), amphibious transport dock USS Somerset (LPD 25), and amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45).

On, 20 March 2013, Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533 deployed to the Western Pacific in support of the Unit Deployment Program. There they will work to increase forward presence and participate in theater cooperation activities with regional allies. Also available in high definition.
