The desired end state is an atmosphere where cultural imperatives of mutual respect and trust, professional values, and team commitment are reinforced to create an environment where sexual assault is not tolerated, condoned, or ignored

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., hosts the annual Sexual Assault and Awareness Month 5K run April 7, 2017. The run is designed to bring people together in order to raise awareness on sexual assault. “This is about awareness and prevention,” said Brig. Gen. Matthew Glavy. “This is about rededicating ourselves as Marines and as Sailors to doing the right thing and protecting each other to protect our mission.” More than 1,100 service members and members of the community came together to show their support and participate in the event. U.S. Marine Master Sgt. Pablo Hernandez speaks about his role as a Uniformed Victim Advocate during a UVA Appreciation Ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., April 4, 2017. As a UVA, Hernandez is on call 24/7 to respond to victims of sexual assault. His responsibility is to be available to provide resources for the victim in a moment of crisis.
