The 14th Annual Recon Challenge

U.S. Marines and veterans compete in the 14th annual Reconnaissance Challenge on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, April 28, 2023. To honor their fallen comrades and support the Gold Star families through their struggle, reconnaissance Marines and veterans participated in the 25-mile obstacle course throughout Camp Pendleton to test their physical limits and enhance camaraderie. 1st Lt. James Salka Awarded Bronze Star for Actions in Afghanistan

1st Lt. James Salka was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with combat distinguishing device during a ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune June 8. Salka, the executive officer of Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, was awarded for his service in Afghanistan with 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment.

Dark Horse Battalion Honored During High School Football Exhibition

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Marines with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, and 12th Marine District, support the Honor Bowl, a two-day high school football event here, Sept 6 and 7, 2013. Marines with 3rd Bn., 5th Marines, answered questions at a static display and were honored before the coin toss of the Saturday night game. Gold Star families with the battalion were escorted by service members onto the field as the guests of honor. Available in High Definition.
