Northern Strike 17, a National Guard hosted exercise, brings together service members from across the U.S. Department of Defense as well as service members from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Latvia, Canada and Poland. Marine Forces Reserve participation in Northern Strike 17 focused on strengthening and refining mechanized, amphibious, land and air capabilities while operating in a joint and multinational capacity. Task Force 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment used Northern Strike 17 to gauge overall training and readiness levels as they prepare for Integrated Training Exercise 2018 and future mobilizations and deployments in 2019.

Approximately 2,800 U.S. service members and members from the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, Tunisian Armed Forces and Spanish La Infantería de Marina participated in the multi-national exercise African Lion 17 in Cap Draa, Morocco, April 19-28, 2017. African Lion, an annual exercise that brings together many partner nations, was developed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding of each nation’s tactics, techniques and procedures while demonstrating the strong bond between each nation’s military forces. Marines with Company C, 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, conduct cold weather training in Ontario, Canada during exercise Riley Xanten II, Feb. 3-5, 2017. During the exercise, Marines joined soldiers from the Canadian Armed Forces to exchange knowledge and increase proficiency in cold weather tactics, survival skills, shelter building, ice fishing, and more.
